Style Star: Rachel Bilson

I wrote from before that I loved loved loved Olivia Palermo's style and fashion sense. A very chic epitome of a fab New Yorker. This time around, I'm going west coast and do the anatomy of a California girl fashon (there are a handful of them) hehehe! I'm starting off with the petite and fashionable Rachel Bilson. Ever since I saw her in The OC as Summer Roberts, I super liked her immediately. Even when I see paparazzi photos of her as Rachel and not as Summer, I do like her vintage, laid back and beach girl style when she does errands or just grabs her coffee.

Fast facts:
  • Full name: Rachel Sarah Bilson
  • Grew up in California
  • Best known for playing Summer Roberts in the hit tv show The OC
  • Height: 5' 2" (very petite!!)
  • Dated: Adam Brody from The OC and Jumper co-star Hayden Christensen (both handsome!)
  • Collaborated with DKNY to create a line called Edie Rose

Wearing a plain white top, skinny jeans, and mary janes while walking her dog. Super fasyon!! Accessorized it with her Wayfarers and a skinny belt

Rachel again with her favorite Rayban Wayfarers. Black and khaki combo is a winner. The A-line skirt, gold pumps, and a chained shoulder bag was a perfect outfit for a lunch out. Not too over the top and not too laid back. Very classy!!!

When going out for erramds, she's wearing her most comfortable outfit - denim cutoffs and ballet flats. Tucking in her plaid/checkered top with her denim shorts is a fool proof outfit you can never go wrong.

Rachel proves that she can be add a little punch to her vintage kind of style. She loves the basic neutral colors but loves color equally as much. In this, she paired her colorful mini-dress with some booties and of course her Wayfarers. Perfect!

For red carpet moments, there's one name you can count on --- Herve Leger! Rachel Bilson donned this white Herve Leger bandage dress and she looked super amazing. Period haha! :)

I really admire Rachel Bilson because though petite, she pulls all of her looks perfectly. Gone are the days where the tall and slender models are the only ones fashionable and stylish. It's really important to know what works for your body type, be confident in it,  and the rest will follow :)

Yay or Nay: Maybelline Bronze Orange Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick

Good Morning Ghetto Gurls!

Happy Monday! Time flies so fast and it's the last week of March! First quarter is officially over! Can you believe that? April is fast approaching which means.. it's officially summer! :)

After writing about my curiousness about Angel Locsin's lipstick color, I found myself 2 days after scouting for one in Watsons hahahaha!! :) I went to the Maybelline section and it was like me being inside Willy Wonka's candy factory hehehehe! The sales assistant was very helpful in answering all my questions if they had a coraly-peachy-orange lip color. Then she showed me the section of the Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick line. WOW! There are 4 categories of this line: Red, Pink, Coral, Nude. Of course my eyes were fixed to the different coral selections because that was my target for the day. I had a hard time debating what to purchase since all the selections were fab! I only have to buy one so after tons of testing, swiping, and looking at the swatches, I went for the Bronze Orange one.

Maybelline Bronze Orange Color Sensational Lipstick

The lipstick up close and personal :)

"Maybelline Color Sensational Moisture Extreme lipstick has Sensational Moisturization, which is a formula with hydra nectar that moisturizes lips up to 8 hours. Its sensational color is richer for luscious and voluptuous color. It also has SPF 15 for sun protection."

Yay's
  • LOVE LOVE the shade! Perfection! Well it's the coraly-orangey-peachy shade I've been looking for.
  • The shade is comparable to the level of NARS Orgasm. It's like a peachy-coraly-pink and I believe the shade will suit all skintones, just like NARS Orgasm. Well, think of it as a universal lipstick that is flattering for almost everyone
  • Works on pigmented lips. If you saw in the picture, you won't think that I have pigmented lips.Color is very rich and blended very well after application.
  • Has SPF 15
  • Super cheapo! Just Php 299.00 What a steal!
  • Definitely moisturizing! I tried using it without applying any lipbalm and it ain't drying my lips.

Nay's
  • Staying power isn't that long compared to my MAC. But I don't mind reapplying every once in a while hehehe!

Super duper highly recommended!!!! Not bad for Php 299.00. This one's a MUST for every girl's makeup kit. Seriously!!! You can use this for daytime, for work, for school, for dinner dates and the list goes on!Drop one frapuccino this week so you have extra cash for your new lipstick hahaha! :-) I'm gonna check out the other lines (red, nude, and pink) to add to my lippies hehehe! Well, my first and only red lipstick I have is from Maybelline too and it didn't fail me :) My tube is already finished so I have reason to scout a replacement and add a nude and pink as well  :)

Stay happy everyone and happy monday!

Ghetto B is curious: Angel Locsin's lipstick shade :)

Just recently, Mark Nicdao, one of the Metro's most sought-after photographers had his book launching, which showcased his works from 2003 to present. I must say he really really have an eye! All of the shots I've seen (via google) are super gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, and well thought of.

Of all the pictures, I loved loved this one. Everything's just perfect everyone's just soooo pretty! :) But to cut things short hahaha... I super  like like like Angel Locsin's lipstick shade (third girl from the left). The shade is orangey-peachy-coraly one. Suits very much her skin tone I don't know what brand this one is so I'm gonna do extra research (a.k.a ask Askmewhats if she knows this one hahaha!). The last time I hunted for a lipstick shade was when  I scouted for the barbie pink Ruffa Gutierrez lipstick. This was way before I found out it was MAC's Pink Nouveau heehee!

Sigh! I waaaaaant!

Scents I'd love to have this 2011: Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Gioa and Philosophy's Amazing Grace,

Good Morning Ghettos!

One of the "heartbreaks" I experienced during one of my out of town trips for work was that--- I broke my Bvlgari Petit et Mamans perfume bottle. When I saw the bottle broken with all 3/4 of the contents all over the floor, I couldn't move and react. I was still on a state of shock on how it happened! Hahaha! It's one of my favorite and "signature" scents and in just a blink of an eye, it was all gone. Haaay! :c I kept reminding myself that when something goes away, something new arrives.. or you have to let go in order to move on hahahaha!

Well well, at least I have an excuse to check out some of the new scents I've been eyeing on for quite some time. I have two on top of the list!

Acqua di Gioa by Giorgio Armani
USD 62 for 1.7 oz.

This one's the counterpart of the ever famous and ever classic Acqua di Gio (for men). Launched just last 2010, Acqua di Gioa means "water of joy". The inspiration for this one was the island of Pantelleria in the Italian coast, where Mediterreanean Sea, sun, and sand combined evokes happiness. Acqua di Gioa
has notes of mint, brown sugar, lemon, jasmine, peony, pink pepper, cedar wood, and labdanum.

Amazing Grace by Philosophy
USD 40 or Php 2, 650.00 in Beauty Bar for 2 oz.

Amazing Grace is very soft and feminine scent - floral and light musk combined. It's Philosophy's best selling fragrance! One of the reasons I can think of is that it was able to create a scent that evokes femininity, fresh, clean, and not too over the top. Something you can wear perfect for a first date (ahem to me! Hahaha!)

Gives me reason not to slack off at work this year! :) I'll see one of you in my dresser! HA!

Another Organix Shampoo: Pomegranate Green Tea

I wrote from before that I bought this soft and silky Organix shampoo variant from Watsons. I really loved the effect on my hair and the smell it gives. One colleague of mine tried this once and can't stop telling me how much he (take note.. a HE) loves the shampoo and how soft and silky his hair. I saw the delight in his face when I decided to give the shampoo bottle to him hehehe!

Good thing it pays to have backup! Hahaha! During a trip to Gaisano Mall in Davao, (which by the way has a supermarket I superrrrrrrrr love! It's like S&R/Costco/Walmart/Safeway in one) I saw stocks of Organix shampoo bottles! Though a little bit pricey that in Manila, I grabbed the Revitalizing Pomegranate Green Tea one :)

"Revitalize you senses with sensual and exotic antioxidant rich organic pomegranate extracts and green tea which target adry and brittle hair while awakening follicles to create a clean and rejuvenating experience, adding a brilliant and luminescent shine"

Next to the Soft and Silky Vanilla I tried before, I chose this one because I loved the scent and to those who have smelled my hair fresh from the shower, I have received good compliments about it! So I made the right choice :) Likewise, I see this variant more often in beauty magazines and  I guess this has got the two thumbs of beauty editors. And I can't disagree with them!

 Love Love Love Organix!

Yay or Nay: Pure Beauty Bon Voyage Remoisturising Night Cream and Essential Eye Cream

Good Morning Sunshines! Monday is here once again. Hope that the weekend was able to recharge you to face another long week! :)

I've seen a new brand  in Watson' shelves and I stopped to take a look because of the unusual packaging I saw for their night and eye creams. It's from a brand called Pure Beauty, from Switzerland.

Pure Beauty Bon Voyage Remoistursing Night Cream:
"Bon Voyage Remoistursing Night Cream is enriched with special moisturisers such as Hydrolyzed Soy Protein & Sweet Almond Oil to help soften and smooth skin. Its nourishing properties also help maintain skin moisture levels. It can also be used as a mask for more intensive treatment. The resealable sachet pack makes it covenient for travelling."
Pure Beauty Bon Voyage Essential Eye Cream:

"Bon Voyage Essential Eye Cream is specifically formulated to help reduce dark circles and smooth fine lines. It contains Sepilift lipo-amino acid which help stimulate the self production of collagen and restore the natural firmness to your skin. The resealable sachet pack makes it convenient for travelling."

Yay's
  • Highly recommended for those who frequently travel. Less weight in your check-in luggage and the resealable pack is a genius idea! Plus points for packaging!
  • Very affordable! Forgot the exact price but at Watson's it's on sale till end of March (15 ml). What I'm sure about is that it's priced less than Php 70.00
  • Love the smell! When I sleep and smell my face, I easily fall asleep. Seriously! Heehee!
  • Upon waking up in the morning, I feel that my face is well moisturized and when I put makeup, doesn't feel dry and flaky.
  • The eye cream works!! I go to sleep late at night and wake up super early during business trips but then I don't look haggard! Eyebags are minimized as well.

Nay's
  • Not sure though if they have full-size bottles of these creams

As early as your 20s, it's a must to start having a basic skincare regimen already. Prevention is better than cure! Saves us from buying Creme de la Mer or La Prarie in the future hahaha! :) There are lots of products to try out there from affordable ones to luxurious ones. Good luck in finding the compatible skincare product for you. Like me, I'm always open to new ones out there :)

Ghetto B Recommends: Silka Green Papaya Premium Bodywash

Good Morning Ghetto Gurls! Happy Friday!!

Not only I'm a lotion person, but I'm a bodywash person as well. I've tried different bodywashes in the past. Mostly imported ones though. But then I realized why go for imported ones when we have very competitive and high quality local brands, right? :)

Anyways, just to give you a background.. we had this vacation 4 years ago in Cebu and  I got SUPER dark that I was scared I won't be able to go back to my original color haha! I scouted for papaya soaps available in the market and I saw Silka Orange Papaya Bodywash! I got back to my normal color afterwards. Fast forward 2010, I found out that Silka has a Green Papaya Bodywash as well. I have a stock with me always since I always go out of town and always exposed to the sun. It's a good "weapon" against the harmful UV rays and second of all, I'm secure that should I look like a burnt barbeque, my Silka bodywash will be there to help me get back to normal hehe! :)

Silka Green Papaya Bodywash 200 ml
*Sorry, I've used  almost 1/2of the contents already! Heehee! :)*
Clear proof that I LOVE using this!

Yay's
  • Proudly Filipino-made! :)
  • Easily available as it's being sold in leading groceries, supermarkets, and drugstores nationwide.
  • Price is very affordable.
  • After exposing myself under the sun, I easily retured to my original color. Whitens in 7 days. Not the glutathione-white kind of white (which I don't like). This one really lightens your skintone.. in a natural way.
  • A little drop goes a long way. I just put a little on my shower puff and I can lather my whole body in it already.
  • Love the smell.
  • Doesn't dry the skin too! I'm a lotion person but at night when I go to sleep, I can let go of the lotion already and feel soft and smooth.

Nay's
  • Nada! Can't think of any!

Silka green papaya bodywashe and orange papaya as well (I've tried this one before and loved it too) are great items to stock up on..especially now that summer is fast approaching! It's good to interchange bodywashes just like what we do with our shampoo. Highly recommended by me! Hahaha! :) Try it and see for yourself.

The Ghetto Gurls' Look for Less: Oxfords

I wrote about Oxfords almost a year ago. Fast forward to 2011, I have my own now! It took me some time to whether buy or not. I'm not sure if I can carry the look, or if I can match it with the clothes I have. With some pegs on hand by the likes of Blake Lively, Sienna Miller, I now I have an idea how to wear it.

Blake Lively while shooting Gossip Girl. Pairing her printed oxfords with a brighy yellow top and navy shorts. Winner!

Sienna Miller with a A-line skirt and her plain white oxfords

Look for Less! Bought at Landmark Deparment Store for only Php 499.75!

Not too pointy and not too round for me.. just right!

Ghetto B reunites with MAC Studio Fix NC40

Back in January 2010, I told AMW that I'll not renew MAC Studio Fix in my makeup kit indefinitely till further notice. It was sad parting ways with my last MAC compact back then because through thick and thin, she was there with me.. to prettify me more whether I'm looking haggard or when I need to look blooming in crucial moments. Each compact was Php 1,500 and during that time I have to tighten my belt and settle for a cheaper alternative (which I really loved too!!) like Maybelline Mineral Foundation.

After exactly 1 year, I found myself into the loving arms of MAC again! They had this temporary stall in Trinoma and voila! There's a stock of Studio Fix NC40! From Php 1,500, inflation struck them too and is now priced at Php 1,700. I should've asked my friend to buy one for me! She bought it just a day before I bought my MAC. In Hong Kong, it was cheaper! I was too late. Arghs! Well, each particle of the foundie is super worth it.. worth every cent it costs.

MAC Studio Fix NC40

I found it weird putting a sponge on my face at first because for the longest time, I was using a kabuki brush for my Maybelline Mineral Foundation. But after seeing my face again with NC40, I'm really impressed with the MAC quality. MAC users pay the price for the effect it gives.. and this beautiful effect for me is priceless :) How do I put it into words? Hmmm.. "blooming" I guess afterwards! I'll just post next time some pics.

That's it. Proclaiming my undying love for MAC Studio Fix hahaha! Love is sweeter the second time around :))

The Ghetto Gurls' Look for Less: Chanel Ballet Flats

Happy Tuesday! We all survived Monday hell :) It's also the second consecutive day I'm back on track with writing posts.

I have a soft spot for ballet flats. I have them in different styles and colors. It's easy to walk around and not feel a foot ache afterwards. I can mix and match them with shorts, day dresses, skinny jeans. Never mind if they don't give me extra height.. I'm contented with the comfort and the flexibility they give to me and my wardrobe hehe! I've spoken about my love for Tory Burch before. I still have it in my "The Secret" list. I will have it. I claim it!

Anyhoo, I've been seeing versions of the famed Chanel flats lately. Of course what a genius by shoe manufacturers! They have the power to create one for us lowly masses that we can try since not every girl can afford Chanel.

Chanel leather flats costs around USD 675. Nude in color, black trim on the sides, black toe cap, and a Chanel logo on the side.

Katie Holmes with her Chanel flats while doing errands. Still looking fab! :)

Even in my wildest dreams, I don't have USD 700 bucks to cough up just for ballet flats! Haha! I'd rather travel to Europe heehee! But while passing the ever reliable SM Deparment store, I saw this ballet flats.. one last pair, one last design, and one size... just for M.E! :)

Parisian Junior Ballet flats. Php 499.00 or USD 11.50!

Patent black trim on the side and toe cap. It has a goldish nude argyle/quilted pattern for the body

I knew I had to get this one. I tried it and surprisingly comfy. Doesn't hurt my feet especially on the sides and back portion. Can't wait to road test these with my jeans, shorts, dresses! Not bad for 500 bucks right? :) I can channel Chanel! Hahahaha! :))

Yay or Nay: Pantene Nature Care Shampoo

Good Morning Ghetto Gurls!

Feels like forever since I wrote a blog entry. I have so much stories and thoughts to share and the 1 month backlog caused an idea clog in my brain. Haha!

Anyways, I change shampoos regularly since they say it's healthy for the hair and avoids product buildup. When I visited a supermarket in one of my business trips, I was struck with the big tarpaulins and ads of the new Pantene Nature Care shampoo by Filipina celebrity Angelica Panganiban. The shampoo simply sells itself as a shampoo derived from Natural ingredients... a first from Pantene if I'm not mistaken. Since i'm a sucker for anything organic lately, I bought the smallest bottle so I can easily tow with me during my trips.

Pantene Nature Care 85ml

Unlike other Pantene variants, this one has a transparent/clear color

"The power of nature and science brought together Pantene's nature CARE collection penetrates each strand, nourishing hair from within, for healthy fullness and shine. Shampoo and conditioner system with Cassia-flower derived essence, plus ProV-B5, works in weakening hair from within. Also contains avocado and grape seed oil."

Yay's
  • The bottle size is perfect for someone who's travelling, without the hassle of tearing a sachet
  • Reasonable price. Forgot the price though hehe!

Nay's
  • Makes my hair dry. I thought it was only on the first wash.. But after the second and third tries, it really isn't for me
  • For some reason, it's the only Pantene shampoo that I don't like the smell. From the bottle when I smelled it, it's really good. But after shampooing, scent doesn't last a long time and not liking it. I loved all Pantene variants. I've tried them all before and it's the first time that i'm not "compatible"
  • I do love the bottle size.. but I'm really having a hard time opening the bottle flap. Hassle.

If I get to finish it, won't buy again. I'd rather stick to my all-time favorite Pantene Total Care heehee! Of course our hair characteristics are different. What may not work for me, may work for you! :) Or you can try the sachet first before buying the bottle.

Back on Track, Back to Regular Programming!

Time flew so fast! It's been a month since we wrote our last entry. It was such a busy month for both of us. I've been busy for work-- juggling corporate deadlines and flying from one destination to another. To make up for lost time, we will definitely be back on track.

So what's new? Well.. Shanna went to Dubai after her Shanghai trip. I made a trip to the Visyas region then after 2 weeks, visited Davao and General Santos. This coming week, off to Tagaytay, Batangas, and Bicol. And last but not the least, hopefully *fingers crossed* I'll be going FOR THE FIRST TIME to Boracay! (yeah what a loser.. haven't been to Bora yet haha!) Whew! Just typing these places amazes me how I was able to hop to all of these places. Some of these places I haven't been yet ever. It's nice to set foot while doing work with a pinch of pleasure :)

We'll start March right by sharing everything and anything we have collected to everyone who'll be stumbling in our little blog The Ghetto Gurls.
