Ghetto B is curious about Hada Labo Moisturizing Lotion

Good Morning Tuesday girlashes! I've been so M.I.A lately again. I'm a self-confessed nerd at work before I head to a much needed Bangkok vacation! Hehe! :)

I've read in blogs lately about this Japanese wonder product named Hada Labo. I dunno if it's a hype but it SELLS 1 BOTTLE EVERY 4 SECONDS!

Hada is skin and Labo is lab. So literally, the name stands for Skin Lab. I think what's good about this product is that it's shy from the usual sugar and spice packaging. It sells straight to the point the benefit you ought to get with this product - it will hydrate your skin and retain moisture.

Here's what Hada Labo says:
  • Contains advanced skin hydrating ingredient – Super Hyaluronic Acid, with twice the moisture retention capacity of Hyaluronic Acid (1gm of Hyaluronic Acid is able to hold up to 6 litres of water).
  • Replenishes essential moisture to visibly improve skin texture and prevent dryness so skin stays soft, hydrated and supple.
  • Moisturises deeply, offering nourishing hydration and skin-smoothing conditioners.
  • Infuses your skin with moisture and leaves it with a natural, healthy looking glow. Skin becomes smoother, softer and richly hydrated.
  • Skin pH balanced. Low irritation.
  • Free of fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colourant.
Since I have sensitive skin, I like that it's fragrance-free! Though I'm an oily faced person, I'm not sure how this will chemically react with my face. But will all the buzz on Hada Labo, I'm really little miss curious on what the fuss is all about :) It's not here in the Philippines yet. But they say it's an affordable skincare line since it's available in drugstores and in Singapore, it's available in Watsons.

Wanna join the bandwagon too?? :)

New TV Series to Watch Out: Hellcats

Good Morning Thursday!

I'm a self-confessed couch potato. I love watching tv, dvds, and movies! I have found another guilty pleasure and new tv series to get addicted to!

Hellcats is a brand new American series from the CW Network. It revolves around the life of Marty Perkins, who joins the cheerleading team of Hellcats to maintain her scholarship. When a spot on the cheerleading squad becomes available because of the injury of one of its members, Marty tries out her luck to get the a scholarship which is one of the perks of being a cheerleader. With her life turning 360 degrees, it shows how her life revolves around college and cheeleading life.

Main characters of the series are: Alyson Michalka, Ashley Tisdale, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, and Heather Hemmens. Alyson potrays Marty. Ashley plays Savannah, who is the cheer captain of the Hellcats. At first Marty and Savannah get into each other's nerves but go well together right after because she realizes that it's a must for them to win the championship for them to maintain the squad and their respective scholarships. Alice is being played by Heather, who gets injured and fears that with the entry of Marty, she might lose a spot in the squad. She's also threatened by her ex boyfriend's attention, Lewis who is a bases guy in the team, played by Robbie Jones, to Marty. Matt Barr plays the character of Dan, who is an old friend of Martie, and has a secret crush on her :) Interestingly, one of the executive producers of the show is the uber handsome Tom Welling! (the handsome Clark Kent of the Smallville series)

After watching the first episode, I want to watch more!!! :) If Glee is into singing, Hellcats is into cheerdancing! So to all those who are curious about Hellcats, give this new series a try!

Here in the Philippines, Hellcats is shown every Wednesday night, 8 PM. Episodes are matched as in the US. So no need to buy pirated DVDs hehehe! There's also an encore telecast every Saturday night, 8 PM :)

Food trip: Almost Gourmet Food Service

Happy Tuesday Ghetto Gurls! I'd like to share with you a gem that I have discovered lately - - Almost Gourmet Food Service!  I'd like to give you a quick gist on how I stumbled upon them. Here are work, we don't have anywhere to go to for lunch as we are not located in the business district. So it's a must to bring lunch in the office. And one day, I saw ALGO tagged one my friends in Facebook as I got interested in the picture (it was yummy!) I read through their Facebook page and official website and found out more about them:
"Almost Gourmet Food Service (ALGO) is a home-based business specializing in meal packs and party trays. Our meals are a variety of freshly-cooked meals that are delicious, nutritious and budget-friendly. Our menu consists of international cuisine -- ranging from Italian, Japanese, to our very own Filipino. Our clients include office workers and private residents who appreciate good food at affordable prices. With ALGO, there is no longer a need to dine in fancy restaurants to get a daily dose of gourmet.
ALGO started its operations in August of 2008, providing meal packs to an office in Eastwood City. Today, ALGO also delivers to offices in Commonwealth, Katipunan, Eastwood, Pioneer, Shaw, Kapitolyo, Ortigas, Fort, McKinley and Makati. We expect to expand our meal packs customer base in 2010. As for party trays, ALGO caters to homes and offices within Metro Manila. Our kitchen is located in BF Homes, Quezon City."

Voila! The magic word I saw in there is that their kitchen is just a stones-throw away from me!!! I got in touch with the owner, Joyce Romualdez, with her mobile number posted in the website. After a few minutes, she quickly replied and answered all of my queries. After browsing the mechanics for first time customers and the menu for the week, I ordered 2 meals! I do bring food everyday to work (which my co-workers find weird hehehe!) but of course to have variety, I decided to try their healthy meals :)

What to expect with ALGO Meal Packs?

"Almost Gourmet Meal Packs come in plastic containers that are microwaveable and reusable. Each pack can fit one viand with one to two side dishes. Typical viands are chicken, beef, pork, seafood and vegetable.
ALGO customers may choose from six various side options, namely, white rice, brown rice, wheat bread, garden salad, buttered veggies and mashed potatoes. Sides are indicated by using their codes (S1, S2... S6). Customers may also opt for half sides (HS1, HS2... HS6) or no sides at all. Weekly meal pack menus do not include rice unless explicitly stated (ex: Grilled Tuna w/ Garlic Rice) because some of our customers prefer salad or mashed potatoes with their meals. ALGO's side options give them the flexibility to mix and match their orders."
What I like about ALGO Meals

  • They have ALGO Sexy Meals for the health conscious. Meaning to lessen the fat content, they use olive oil and avoid frying
  • You can order half sides! Like half rice or half mashed potato or more than 1 side! :)
  • When you open your meal, you feel like you took home gourmet food from an upscale resto! Presentation is fab. Black container is microwaveble and reusable too!
  • No pressure to order every day. Order what you just like for that day :)
I'd like to share with you the 2 meal packs I ordered from last week's menu. And I must say, really really loved it! I will definitely order next time :)

Tandoori Chicken Salad with Yogurt Mint Dressing - Chicken is roasted perfectly! I love the dressing. The veggies were fresh!

Corn, Tomato, and Avocado Salad - I love this because there's a gourmet cheese in it ( I'm a cheese person!) and the dressing is pesto! Good combo!

Important points to keep in mind:
  • ALGO send their menu a week before (every Wednesday). Deadline of ordering is every Friday, 8 PM
  • No need to order everyday. You can order when on days when you want to :)
  • You pay at the end of the week (every Friday) or when you get your last order. Billing will be sent every Thursday
  • Everyday food wil be delivered from 10 am to 12 nn.
  • Minimum order per home or organization is 5 packs per day. Free Delivery.
  • Order cancellation is allowed via email or phone at least 2 days in advance
  • ALGO or Joyce can be contacted via the following:
So there pretties! No reason to get grumpy during lunch because your food sucks. You can have gourmet food at an affordable price with just the power of your fingertips!

Another post on my Salmon Orange Silk Dress

P.S - Sorry but I still can't get over my silk salmon orange wrap dress I shared last Friday! I saw over Peoplestylewatch that Sarah Jessica Parker wore a similar one! She wore this dress recently while seated in the front row of the New York Fashion week's Spring/Summer 2011 collection of Halston Heritage. I love it in a major major way! :) Like Victoria Beckham, how I wish I had matching shoes to go with it hehehe!I just used my relible black satin peep toe heels :)

Food Trip: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Frozen Twirls

Saturday's here! Do you have plans to pig out and relax today? Well, I have a bright idea to share! :)

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is really close to my heart. I've always loved their drinks (both hot and cold) and their pastries. But most of all, I heart heart heart their breakfasts! I have good memories of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf breakfasts with my super BFF. We'd eat at Capitol Greenstreet just near our place, overlooking a plush and green golfcourse on a weekend. I even have a swirl loyalty card hehe! After gulping our heavy meal and tons of chit chats, we'd head to Blue Water Day Spa (inside Capitol Greenstreet again) and get a pampering body massage or foot spa while watching dvds :-) Too bad now that because of our crazy skeds, I'm stuck with tons of work and my friend is busy as a senior intern as she's a doctor now hehehe! :)

Now, we have another reason to frequent Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf because they have offer Frozen Yogurts! I haven't personally tasted it but we now have a chance to do so! They have a Buy one, Get one free promo good on September 19 (Sunday)! Just print out the coupon below and present it in the participating Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf branches like Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center, Midtown, Four Seasons, Rockwell, Eastwood, Greenhills Promenade, and Bonifacio High Street. You and your best friend, hubby, or daughter/son can have one free froyo! :) A really good reason to have quality time and bonding over the weekend!

The Ghetto Gurls' Look for Less: Silk Shirt Dress

Happy Friday! I have been insanely busy these past few days that's why I'm not able to blog like I used to. Like for today, this happened 3 weeks ago and I'm just about to share it now hehehehe!

Me and my friend went to the Rockwell Urban Bazaar. It was my first time to go and I was excited to see what stalls would be there. I bought a couple of stuff and everytime I had the urge to buy, I was psyching myself that #1: I will go to Forever 21 the next day so I shouldn't squander everything I have #2: I will go to Bangkok by October so I shouldn't squander everything that I have. Haha! Like a mantra playing over and over in my head :)

I saw this dress and when I first saw it, I knew I have to have it!! Super nice salmon orange silk shirt dress from Eightone. Good thing we have this corporate event at work and this will be a fab outfit to wear! For only Php 780, this is a really good buy in my opinion! Flatters any body type and easy to wear! Just throw in an intricate neckpiece or earrings then you'll look like a celeb in the red carpet!

Eightone doesn't only have an online store but a real shop as well. You may visit them at 8101 Pearl Plaza in in Pearl Drive Ortigas Avenue, Archeaology in Rockwell Powerplant Mall, Theater Mall in Greenhills, and The Ramp in Glorietta . They have a wide selection of pieces that are drool worthy. They have new arrivals every once in a while.

Victoria Beckham wearing a similar dress from Donna Karan's Resort Collection. The fabric also looks like silk and like the fabric of the eightone dress above :)

This is me wearing the dress at our corporate event. I love it! :)

Good thing I'm well prepared to have my showbiz moment with Iya Villania! :) Caught by the camera was my lootbag from the night's event. Hehe!!

Hunk Hunted: Bradley James

I am a fan of the TV Series, Merlin.  But other than the fact that it has a great story and that I enjoy watching it,  I am also having a huge crush on the guy playing Prince Arthur Pendragon!  He is soo cute and boy! can he swing a sword!  He kicks ass!  I am happy to have hunted another hunk for you, pretty ladies.  So without further ado, let me share some facts and juicy information about this cutie!

Birthday:  October 11, 1983 (He is turning 27 soon)
Birthplace:  Devon, England, UK
Height: 6 ft
Hair Color:  Blonde
Eye Color:  Blue
Likes:  Football

When he was young, Bradley either wanted to be a professional footballer or an actor. As it turned out he followed the acting route and Bradley attended the Drama Centre London which is said to have been very tough on its students but worthwhile.

He got a few small jobs after leaving the DCL such as Dis/connected and Lewis but his big break was on Merlin playing the character of Prince Arthur. He, himself, has claimed to love the job he does and the people he works with.

Bradley does not cook.
His favorite food is steak with vegetables.
Bradley is a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Bradley got injured while filming Merlin almost on a daily basis due to big amount of fight scenes.
Bradley was eager to take on the role of Arthur in Merlin because as a spoiled, boorish and over protected teenager, he represents everything that Bradley is not.
Bradley is a sports fanatic, which makes him deeply enjoy working on Merlin where he takes part in sword fight, fencing tournaments and does a lot of horse riding.

If you wanna see Bradley James, watch the TV series Merlin broadcasted in the BBC One Channel, in the Philippines, you can watch it at the Hallmark Channel.  Currently, Merlin has wrapped up seasons 1 and 2 and is filming season 3.  I don't have any update on season 3 yet=)
If you wanna get more information about Bradley James, he has some fan sites that you can check out.

and he has a facebook page too.  Just search him and you will find=)

Before I go,  here is some hot hot pics of Bradley James!

Photos from: 1

So what do you think?  Isn't he a cutie?

Till my next hunk hunting=)

Ta ta for now, pretties!

Universal Studios Singapore: Tips on how to have more FUN!

Hello pretties!  How are you today?

Well, today I am gonna share to you some tips on how to have more FUN at Universal Studios Singapore.

Ghetto S Suggests...

1.  Wear light weight cotton.  A nice shirt and shorts would be very ideal.  I am discouraging you to wear pants here because the weather in Singapore is pretty crazy, its humid, warm then it would suddenly rain. Pants especially the denim ones could be warm on the legs and if it gets wet just in case the rain pours, its pretty hard to dry it up and gets pretty heavy when wet.  Its easier to maintain wet legs because you can just wipe it off than walking around in wet pants.  Get the picture?

2.  For girls, if you wanna wear pretty at the pictures, it is fine to wear a dress.  Just make sure it is not too short that guys can make peekaboos in you HUHAs. You know what I mean...Wear a dress that you are comfortable wearing and of course, please choose a cotton fabric and skip those chiffon and silk.

3.. Shoes!  This is soo important.  I strongly urge you pretty girls to skip the stilettos, the wedges or anything high.  Choose your favorite walking sandals, flats, slippers or sneakers.   Among the 4 I suggest you wear your favorite sandals because sandals would look cute in pictures.  Flats might make your toes feel hot while sandals gives more air for them to breathe, after all you will be walking for hours.  It might get sweaty down there.  Slippers, well its too informal--not unless you have super pretty slippers, and sneakers? Well, you can run around them but then if in case it rains and it gets wet?  Well it will be dripping.  You can easily wipe off water from your sandals.  So let it be sandals.  In my case, I used my favorite white sandals from Carmelettes.

4.  Bring an  umbrella with you, a small one perhaps so it won't be bulky or if you don't have one, there are disposable raincoats for sale at the shops around Universal Studios which costs around 1 SGD.

5.  Sunblock!  Protect yourself from harmful UV rays while you are out and basking under the hot Singapore sun having fun at the themed park, after all, its an open area. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock because I like the scent, the feel(weightless) and the fact that it has SPF 45=)

6.  Bring extra clothes so if you get all sweaty or wet from some of the rides, you can easily run at the nearest comfort room to freshen up and change your wardrobe.  It really is good to be ready.

7.  Bring a fully charged camera!

8.  And most importantly bring loads of smiles, sunshine and a heart for adventure.

Then, you are ready to have  maximum fun at Universal Studios in Singapore!

Hope I was a big help=)

Thanks pretties...Kisses:*

Ghetto B likes: Olivia & Fifth Online Store

Hello Ghetto Gurls! Rise and shine!!!! How's your morning? :)

There are lots of interesting finds with just a click of the mouse. Ghetto gurls will share to you some of the intresting finds we have from cyberspace. Today, I'll feature hot online store named: Olivia & Fifth.

I first came across Olivia & Fifth inside the fashion section of glossy magazines. I've seen editors featuring their items which look really good and stylish. When I went to the Rockwell Urban Bazaar a couple of weeks ago, I saw their booth and saw first hand their items. Really nice!! It's good that they have a multiply site and here's a quick glance about their store:
"The masterminds behind Olivia & Fifth are long time friends Gem Co and Denise Young. Their love for fashion led them to take up a few short courses at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines while still in college. Quickly thereafter, they conceptualized and launched the Olivia & Fifth brand.
Olivia & Fifth brings style and comfort to the contemporary customer. Inspired by the combination of simple and edgy, and casual and chic, designers Gem Co and Denise Young creates a collection that combines style, sexiness and fun. The Olivia & Fifth collection is unique as it mixes simple and sleek dresses with distinctive details. Its creations also comprise of feminine tops and easy dresses comfy enough for everyday wear. Check Olivia & Fifth for fashion forward creations that can be worn effortlessly from day to night."
Here are some items that caught my eye! I've always wanted an Herve Leger dress because I see young hollywood A-listers don their bodycons and bandage dresses everytime there's a party or a red carpet thing. Second and most important of all though I want one, I don't have the moolah to buy one hehehe! :)

Young hollywood celebrities in their Herve Leger dresses:

Blake Lively and Sophia Bush

Rachel Bilson

You can get the look for less and have your own bodycon dresses at Olivia and Fifth! Check some of the new collection:

Dale bodycon dress:
Price: Php 1,350
Sizes: XS, S, M

Brady Bandage Dress
Price: Php 1,650
Sizes: XS, S, M

They were also featured in the August issue of Preview Magazine
Charlie Scalloped-hem Shorts
Price: Php 1,150

Reminds me of Kate Bosworth's scallopped shorts from Chloe!!! Super love it! :)

Spotted are local celebrities wearing Olivia & Fifth (and by the way these celebrities I personally like because they're sense of style is somewhat like mine. Not too flashy, fashion forward but just on the classic side).

Bianca Gonzales and Toni Gonzaga

You likey??? Me likey!!!!!! Click the link to visit Olivia & Fifth! :)

The power of The Secret works: Ghetto B gets her early birthday pressie

Good morning Thursday! It's good to be writing once again. Though I'm a self-confessed nerd at work, I still find a teeny weeny free time for me to insert blogging :)

A couple months bag, I wrote about my drooling moment over Longchamp bags. I re-read my post back then and I clearly wrote in the last pargraph:

"Well should I buy my own Longchamp, I'm leaning on buying the Garance color (red) because I know a Jeremy Scott collection would be pricey. For now, I have to save, save and use the power of The Secret to make it come true :) And i'll go back to this post years from now to see that what I had imagined to come true really did come true!"
4 months ago, I only settled and wished for a plain colored one because a printed Longchamp is more expensive. Then one day, a very very good and best friend of mine handed me a paperbag when I visited her house. Let's hide her in a codename Donya (she's gonna kill me if she reads this and I call her Donya hehe!)  She told me that she got me this present a long time ago when she went to Hong Kong. She knew I was drooling for Longchamp as she read here in the blog. So when she bought me one, she vowed to save it and patiently wait until my birthday to hand it!! But she's always hearing from me my intention to buy a Longchamp by telling her stories on how I canvassed prices through resellers and my plan to ask our friend who's based in London to buy one for me. Now before I buy my own, she already handed her gift to me 2 months in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus also as a thank you token for helping her out in her nerdy work hehe!

When i first saw the paperbag, I didn't think of it immediately since she might have used just the paperbag but it contains a different thing inside. But when I saw the shadow of the item upon holding the gift tissue, I knew it already. i was so in awe that the only words I can speak of were "ohmygoooooooosshhhh", "waaaaaaaaah", "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek". I was totally speechless. I hugged my friend with a big smile on my face as I was saying my thank you's. It was really thoughtful and sweet of her to do this for me. Really really really didn't expect it. On top of that, I didn't get a plain one.. I GOT A PRINTED ONE! The Longchamp LM Line medium short handle tote in PINK!!!

Longchamp LM Nylon Line (stands for Longchamp Maroquinerie) is a higher end model of the usual Le Pliage. The original LM line was first released during the 70s. It was brought back last 2008 to celebrate Longchamp's 60th anniversary. The print has a vintage Longchamp horse and a belt criss-cross logo. The usual colors of the LM are the metallic which are steel and bronze. And mine is Pink!!!!! (still can't get over the pink color hehe!)

My fabolous gift. I love the ribbon and the paperbag

When you open the gift tissue, it looks like this! What's good about it is it's foldable! There's a hook and eye both at the flap and the back (bottom part) to securely hold it if you want to fold it.

My Longchamp LM baby standing up! heehee! :)

Again to my dear friend, thanks for being such a sweetheart! Thanks super!!!! I'm soooooo loving it and I'm gonna take care of it BIGTIME! Now I really therefore believe that wishes do come true and the power of The Secret really works :)

Battle of the Mascaras: Cover Girl Lash Blast, Revlon Grow Luscious, and Maybelline Volume Express

Hello Girlies!

It's been quite a while since I posted last. I wasn't busy being a nerd but rather, I was busy enjoying my vacation mode while Shanna does all the writing hehehe!

For a year and a half now, I have never bought a mascara because I have a "fairy god mascara supplier" I shall hide using the name ASKMEWHATS :)) hehehehe! But it's true! Everytime my supply runs out and I have this urge to buy my own, she would magically hand me a sample mascara! I had like 3 consecutive tubes from her. Since we don't see each other anymore than before, I sort of "missed" having her pop out of her cubicle and give me my mascara present *awww*. So now, I should start scouting one on my own.

I have three choices in mind: Cover Girl Lash Blast, Revlon Grow Luscious, and Maybelline Magnum Volum Express. To start things first, I have never tried any of the mascaras. I will be basing my "buying decision" based on the print ads and blogger reviews. Let's see if any of these mascara 4Ps (Product, Price, Packaging, and Promotion) will lure me into buying their product.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara
Price: Php 575.00

  • I love Drew Barrymore here. She looks so pretty! Love the yellow theme

  • Lash blast promises more length (which I'm not aiming for)

  • I'm not liking the wand but they said that this is Covergirl's longeset brush ever

  • Read good reviews as well

  • Price ranks as the middle between the 3 mascaras

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
Price: Php 625.00

  • I like Jessica Biel. And she looks gorgeous in here :)

  • I'm looking for volume rather than length so Grow Luscious isn't so appealing to me

  • The packaging is ordinary compared to the 2 mascaras. It's the usual cylinder shape. But I like the turquoise color just so they don't get nothing hehehe!

  • I don't like the wand as well. Typical and the usual.

  • Read not so good reviews on this

  • Grow Luscious is the most expensive of the 3 mascaras

Maybelline Magnum Volum Express Mascara
Price: Php 429.00

  • A friend of mine gave me a Maybelline mascara before as a gift from her trip to Guam. Ever since I have been using Maybelline Mascaras

  • 2 friends of mine (including Shanna) are current users of Maybelline Magnum

  • I like the packaging. Not the usual cylinder type. Plus purple and gold/yellow is eye catchy! (Looks like the Lakers mascara hehehehe!)

  • I'm liking the wand. It's long and thick to get the mascara from within. Has different bristle sizes too.

  • I want more volume than more length to my lashes so this appeals to me

  • Read good reviews on it

  • Always voted as Best Drugstore Mascara in InStyle magazine

  • Maybelline Magnun is the cheapest of the three

What's the verdict?????

Though it doesn't have a celebrity endorser, and it has more pros than cons, I will buy Maybelline Magnum Volum Express.

What do you think??? Did I make the right decision? :)

Anyway,  thanks for dropping by pretties.
