Ghetto Hunk: John Foo

I was in Sm Megamall the other day together with my hubby and a couple friends.  We were planning to watch Inception (and in case you didnt watch it yet,I recommend you watch it.  It is an interesting movie).  So anyway, after purchasing our movie tickets, I noticed there was some crowd gathered in the middle part of the hallway.  It was obvious to me that they are waiting for a celebrity.  Problem is, I don't know what movie and who the celebrity was.  I can sense that the guards were talking in their radios and the excitement in the air was increasing.  Since I was in a good position and I am GHETTO, I bought myself some time by pretending to walk slowly while studying our movie tickets which of course was my pretentious act--as if I don't care.  So from afar I can see that this fair guy was walking with guards behind him.  I know its him because he has a garland necklace! But I don't recognize him--at all!  Who is he? Well without further ado, I got my Iphone (I am a media person in my own right) and took a video of him.  And here is what I got...

I was happy after I took the video!  I feel successful and I feel like a media!  Of course, the first thing on my mind was--I will share this video with the pretties at the Ghetto Gurls.

A guy suddenly looked at me and asked me.

Stranger:  "Miss, sino yun?"
Me: "Ay di ko alam!"
Stranger: "Kinukuhaan mo ng picture, tapos di mo pala alam, ok ka rin ah!"

Aba! Ok talaga ako! Lol!  It's called Freedom of the Press!

Anyway, later I found out that that guy is Jon Foo who played Jin Kazama in the 2010 Tekken the Movie!

He is actually cute in person but he looks a bit asian to me, maybe because his father is a chinese man from Singapore and his mother is european from London, where he grew up.  East meets west beauty.  John was born October 30, 1982 (which makes him 27 turning 28 years old).  He has been training Wushu from a young age.  Maybe that landed him the role of Jin Kazama in Tekken.

Want to see more of him?  Watch Tekken the movie.  It is showing in the Cinemas near you.  I have not watched it yet because I am planning to watch The Last Airbender first.  But i love Tekken and lets give the guy a credit--he came here to promote his movie after all---thats effort.

See yah around pretty girls!

What's Hot Right Now: MAC's Disney Venomous Villains Collection

Aloha girls! I've been quite busy with tons and tons of work but now.. I'm back! I missed the city life as I was on a business trip in a nature town (I'll share more details soon) but I realized I'm a city girl. Really missed the city after the plane touched down the runway hehehe! ;-)

I just heard and read from beauty blogging sites that MAC and Disney is about to unveil their newest collaboration - - the MAC Disney Villains Collection! From the success of their collaborations with Hello Kitty and Barbie, they are now going on a different route and instead use the famous villains that wrenched the hearts of our classic protagonists. Really curious what it is like. And I'm more curious what's in the mind of the MAC team for choosing the antagonists in their collection. The norm for traditional markting will probably be to create a line that is "princess-y" or "sweet and nice" but this one, they took the road less taken. Let's see how this will be picked up by the market. Lipgloss, Lipstick, Powder, and Blush will be available for sale starting September. MAC announced that they will feature the 4 most famous villains:

The Evil Queen from Snow White

Maleficient from Sleeping Beauty

Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians

MAC's VP for Product Development Jennifer Balbier said that Disney gave them the colors used to create these characters and from there, they developed the line. The Evil Queen and Cruella de Ville were predominantly red and peach while Maleficient's were purples and blacks. Dr Facillier's will have "powders which will set foundation but lends dimensionality on skin". I'm definitely intrigued!!!

Mark your calendars ghettos as these will hit the stores September 30th! What abut you?? What are your thoughts on this??

In Her Closet: A Peek at Celebrity Closets Part 1

I have been begging my husband to grant me my own walk in closet, if not, maybe a spare room that can be my dressing room will do.  But currently, it is just impossible because the house we are living in just lacks the space that I need.  But the good news is, he agreed to give me a walk in closet in our new house and God is currently helping us find a new place to call Home.  Thank You Lord!  I am so excited.  Anyway, it might take a couple of years for that one to complete so I am not gonna be making plans for my own walk in closet soon but I am simply drooling over the closet of these celebrities.  Mine won't be as large as theirs but I don't care because it is mine to call mine and that is all that matters.

Anyway, would you care to join me in snooping around on some of the closets of these famouse celebrities?

Mariah Carey

Miley Cyrus

Ashley Tisdale

Olivia Wilde

Kim Cattrall

Nicky Hilton

Kimora Lee Simmons

Paula Abdul

Olivia Palermo

Nicole Ritchie

Well, I really like the closet of Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey?  How about you?

This is just the first batch.  I'll be posting the second batch soon.

Vacation: A Paradise in Mactan Island, Cebu -- Plantation Bay

It was love at first sight the moment I set foot on Plantation Bay--that was 14 years ago.  So you would not blame me if I was crazy excited when my friend and I finally decided to spend a weekend there.  Call me ghetto, but this is a dream come true to me.  Pinch, pinch, pinch me!  Lol!

So there, we found ourselves happily boarding the Zest Air plane (of course, though Plantation Bay is a first class resort, we still managed to do some budgeting and budgeting appeared on our airline ticket).  We were pretty impressed because Zest Air provided us with free coffee, juice, tea or water plus an inflight magazine and newspaper to keep us entertained.

When we arrived at the airport, we got a warm welcome from a Plantation bay representative who fetched us together with other guests.  We felt special--and for a moment he thought I was Korean.  Nice!

Plantation Bay is even better now.More beautiful and magical.  Here are some pics to show you why it took my breath away...

I have my own island where I can chill...

This was taken right outside the room...very convenient.

I would want to get married here someday.  A couple actually got married when we were there.  It took place during sunset and reception was dinner by the lagoon side.  Very romantic!

This is a salt water pool...(there are dozens of lagoons/pools all over Plantation Bay) We actually went pool hopping,  You will never get tired of the view.

What can I say...the place looks sooo much better in person.

Crossing a wide lagoon...

My friend, Monica happily basking in the sun and posing.

Island hopping? Not a problem. In fact, you don't need a boat. Just walk...or swim.

I'm beginning to miss Plantation Bay just by looking at these pictures.

They have amenities for children, FYI.  In fact, they have a daycare center.  They have lots of kiddie pools!  And the hotel has also come up with lots of activities for children.  So your children won't get bored.

This is a french inspired freshwater pool...

In one of the Gazebos near the Lobby...

Feeling like i'm in paradise...Feeler!

Love strolling around! Can;t get enough...

Free Kalesa ride to all the guests...

This area reminds me of a Mama Mia scene...this is at the beach.  There is actually a real beach at Plantation Bay apart from their large man made lagoons.  The guests can go island hopping, para sailing, jet skiing, and other water sports.

Looking over the water...

You can go biking at the compound too.  It's for free...!!!

Waiting for lunch...=)

Apart from the beautiful view(which is even more beautiful in real life), Plantation Bay holds the title for Best Spa Experience.  I will tell you more about their Spa next time and of course I will show you pictures!  If you are looking for paradise in paradise...I recommend you try Plantation Bay in Mactan Island, Philippines.  And oh, the food is great too! I'll tell you about the hotel restaurants and the food that we tried next time as well.

How to get there:

Plane via Cebu City

For more information,  please visit their website. Click HERE.

and FYI,  Plantation Bay is definitely not a cheap resort, but you can save for it and I tell you it will be worth your experience.  And of course on top of the beauty of the resort, what I admire most about Plantation Bay is the warmth and smiles of the staffs there.  I have never feel like i'm at home away from home than in Plantation Bay.  They will really take good care of you during your stay there.  Special thanks to Ms. Colleen=)

Ghetto me is gonna wake Mr. Piggy Bank now, fill it up and go back to Plantation Bay again...This vacation is definitely my misadventure in the glamorous world!

Till then pretties=)

What is your dream vacation spot in the Philippines?

Kids Fashion: Little Miss Pink

Hi Pretty Ones!

It's Thursday! One more day and its TGIF.  Exciting!  (I noticed that from Monday to Thursday, B and I have been looking forward to Friday which is of course the last day of the work/school.)  Well, what can I say? The Ghetto Gurls are just fond of weekends. Hehe=)

Anyways,  did I ever tell you that I have a cute and adorable daughter who is actually my mini doll? LOL.  Well she loves being my doll.  I love playing dress up with her and today is actually her first fashion appearance in GG.  And of course, the GG mommy and daughter team would like to share with you a fashion for less for little kikays!

Headband:  Forever 21 (It was purchased from the US through a friend when Forever 21 was not yet open here but worry no more girls because Forever 21 is just a train/taxi/fx/walk/car/ away...)  I think it cost me around Php 200 more or less...sorry i forgot.)

Dress:  Color Block Dress at Girlshoppe from SM Dept Store P299.00 (pretty cheap but uber nice and comfy)

Shoes:  It's a Pink Ballet Flats from Korea that was given to her by her Granny.  Purchased at Tutuban Mall for Php 250.00

I love look for less because I am saving for Louie's tomorrow.  But of course, saving does not mean that she can't dress nicely.  I really am a bargain hunter.  Just remember girls, its not how expensive, but on how you choose the right outfit that will match you and will highlight your positive assets.

I will be posting more fashionable ideas and crafts not just for adults but also for kids.  Louie is very willing to be a part of GG to share with us the world of kids too.

Thanks for dropping by pretties!

See yah!

Yay or Nay: Aveeno Positively Ageless Night cream

Good morning pretty girls! Were you able to sleep soundly last night? Do you think you looked a year younger or 5 years older when you woke up? Well us girls should always wake up looking younger than we should be! With the right diposition, a smiling face, and with the right skincare routine and products, we can defnitely look younger than ever! :-)

I, for example, don't look my age. I'm aware of that and I take extra effort to look professional and not a 12 year old because I need it at work! I need to be taken seriously and not look like a kid playing dress-up in the office hehe! :)  But on the other hand, I still want to look that I'm drinking from the fountain of youth. I want to "age gracefully" and avoid as much as possible that wrinkles and fine lines. As early as our 20s, we should be conscious with our skin because it's like saving cash in a bank. We invest in it and we reap the fruits in the future! Aside from cleansing our face, putting moisturizer or sunblock, it is often neglected to have a nightcream regimen.

Using a nightcream before hitting the sack will help moisturize your skin while you sleep. If we have the enough moisture in our skin, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles will be minimal because these things happen if you have dry skin because as our skin tends to mature, it becomes more dry. That's why all these mositurizers and creams promise you the benefit of moisture. There are lots of creams and moisturizers in the market and one brand that I use now is Aveeno Positively Ageless Night Cream.

Aveeno Positively Ageless Night Cream has a Natural Shitake Complex which is an anti-oxidant works with your skin's natural renewal process and is clinically shown to go beyond fighting lines and wrinkles to capture firmer looking skin while you sleep.

  • Even though it's a night cream, it doesn't feel heavy! The skin easily absorbs it and I don't feel greasy at all
  • Love the scent. It helps me get better zzzzzzs. :) Once I put it on my face and smell it, it spells sleeping time already for me.
  • Aveeno is a brand known for producing products using natural ingredients and is safe for use especially for babies and those with sensitive skin.
  • When I wake up, I get a skin that's so soft and smooth.
  • When I first used this product, I used it together with another brand of night cream. I alternated both products and I ended with flaky finger tips! I didn't know which caused it. So I stopped both. And when I resumed using it after the peeling stopped, I used Aveeno first. Then, no flaking occured.
As early as now, we should start our own skincare regimen! Gone are the days where using creams or moisturizers are for the 40s and above only. Investing today in skin care is better than spending tons of money for your botox and facelifts when you are in your 50s or 60s hehehe! :)

The Ghetto Gurls' Look for Less: Tulip Skirts

Happy Tuesday Ghettos! Monday passed already!! 4 more days to go before the weekend. :D
I shared to you before my shopping haul for my new work. Well today I'll share to you one outfit I wore to work :) The essential item here is the floral tulip skirt. A tulip skirt is derived from the shape of an inverted tulip. It emphasizes on the hips unlike A-line skirts which is shaped like the letter A and spreads out.
Since my skirt is floral, I chose a plain white top so as to give the spotlight to my skirt. Taking cue from Kim Kardashian who wore this tulip skirt to highlight her hips..I made my own look for less! :)

Kim Kardashian in a floral watercolor tulip skirt

This is me..acting for a faux candid shot HAHA! :)) I chose to wear sandals instead of wedges and a round neck tee instead of a white sleeveless like Kim K.

Top: Ocean Pacific (Export Overruns) Php 250
Skirt: From Greenhills Php 400

How about you? Do you have any look for less outfits you want to share????? :)

Must-Read Chick Lit and Must-Watch Chick Flick: Eat Pray Love

Happy Monday girlies! Are you recharged for another looooong week ahead?? Weekend flew so fast that Monday is here again. Anyways I shared to you before my love for reading chick lits. Today, I'm gonna share with you a non-fiction chick lit. Written by New York Times best selling author, Elizabeth Gilbert, this novel is titled Eat, Pray, Love.

I was curious back then at the bookstore with its very creative cover. The word "eat" is spelled using twirled pasta; "pray" using the religious beads from India; and "love" using petals to signify the tropical country Indonesia. I have heard good reviews from people who have read the book so I finally gave in and bought the book. I've read this book during my "vacation mode"  and "sadness mode". Back then, I was envious of how she took the risk of leaving behind everything and travelling across the globe to pursue self-disovery! But well, I couldn't do what she did so I just settled in joining her journey by reading the book. :-)

Quick preview what's inside:
  • Elizabeth or Liz gets divorced from her husband and undergoes suicidal tendencies and depression, tries to find herself by travelling to 3 different countries. Italy to Eat; India to Pray; Indonesia to Love.. hence the title "Eat Pray Love". She wrote that "I wanted to explore the pleasure of art in Italy, the art of devotion in India, tand he art of balancing both worldy enjoyment and divine trascendence in Indonesia."
  • Liz shares her adventures and taking the risk of leaving her comfort zone in New York after her divorce discovering the best places to eat in Italy. The best pizza, the best gelato, travelling other Italian cities, meeting new friends, learning Italian and the list goes on.
  • In India, she gets reconnected with her spiritual side. It is because after her divorce she found herself lost and can't put herself back to pieces. I'm a Catholic and Liz in here has a different set of spritual beliefs. I may not agree with all that she everything she mentions in the book. But I respect her beliefs. At the end of the day, we are still accountable to one God. It's just that each of us with different religion has different approaches. One thing I can relate to the most is the philosophy of meditating and praying. Sometimes when we pray we are so occupied with tons of stuff that instead of devoting that small time to God, our thoughts still wander.
  • Indonesia is her last stop. Coming from a divorce, and a relationship with a much-younger man (yes, she was a cougar!) she goes into Bali and discovers how it is to fall in love again.
What I love about the book
  • Elizabeth Gilbert is a good story teller! She vividly describes each and every moment that you feel like you are in the scene. Like how pretty the city of Bologna is and how spooky and old Venice is. (All the while I imagined Venice as this picturesque city like in the books but Liz describes it sooo differently!). She also described in detail the best pizza in the world!!! Well Naples in Italy makes the best pizza in the world and this pizzeria makes the best pizza in Naples. So this must be the holy grail of pizzas!! Pizzeria de Michele is a small place with two rooms and a non-stop oven. She narrated that by 1 PM, the streests outside get jammed with people wanting to get hold of the pizza. You have to get in early because the dough runs out quickly. And they only have two kinds of pizza - regular and extra cheese. It's thin crust and not cripsy. It is thin crust but doughy/gummy/chewy in form! Do read more the book on how she describes her gastronomic experiences! :-)
  • It's kind of a self-help book in a way because her experiences in her travels are full of lessons that each of us can relate and use in our daily lives. I, for one, can attest that after reading the book you'll get some lessons learned from her journey.
  • The book will hit the theaters... SOON!!! Starring no other than, Julia Roberts as Liz Gilbert :-) Here's a sneak preview of the trailer. Just with the trailer.... I LOVE LOVE IT! Can't wait to see the movie!!!!!!!

I'm excited how the film will be compared to the book. James Franco is also in there!!!!  (He plays the young guy love interest here) But with Julia Roberts playing the lead, I think she will do the book's film version with justice :) Highly recommended book to read! Hit your nearest bookstore and grab yourself one.

Yay or Nay: Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton Lotion

Good Morning Sunshines! I'm sorry for being MIA lately.. I've been very busy with work and really don't have time to even go online. Typhoon "Bashang" has hit Manila pretty hard :( but hope everything goes back to normal and all people are safe from harm.

Anyhow, I think I told you before that I'm a lotion person. I can't live the house without putting one. I do have a collection of lotion :-) Among my lotion faves is Bath and Body Works. My dear friend Nikki of AMW gave me from before 2 lovely scents I love - Cucumber Melon and Sweet Pea while my another partner in crime, Haydee gave me Warm Vanilla Sugar. I remember buying at a super sale price the Honeysuckle fragrance lotion at a Bath and Body Works Outlet for just $1 or $2 I think :) Last Christmas, my aunt gave me a new one coming from their Signature Collection - - - Sea Island Cotton

The Signature Collection formula contains ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E that makes and keeps skin moisturized. Sea Island Cotton is a clean scent, inspired by pure white fresh cotton flowing in the air.

  • I'm truly, madly, deeply, in love with the scent!!! As in. I'm into baby powdery, fresh, clean scents (just like Bvlgari's Petit et Mamans) and this truly is a good example of it. Should I want to go out and get noticed or if there's a special occassion, this lotion is my go-to lotion. Never ever fails me. Scent stays all day. I also feel pretty when I use this hehehehe! :)
  • I love the viscosity of the lotion. Not too thick and is not greasy.
  • Lives up to its promise of moisturizing your skin. This will never make your skin dry
  • I'm curious to smell and try the other Sea Island Cotton product line like the Eau de Toilette, shower gel, fragrance mist, etc. Just my hunch, they are all good!!! :)
  • Since I live here in Manila, I won't get to access or enjoy the promotions they have in the website. I just have to deal with the prices of resellers here.

Available at the Bath and Body Works website for USD10.50 for a 8 fl oz. bottle. But if you buy more than 1, you might as well take advantage of the promos like Buy 3 and Get 2 Free or Buy 2 and Get 1 Free. This lotion lands in the Top 3 of my all-time favorite lotions. I will definitely stock up on this :-)

IT- Shoe for the Guys: Sueno de Espadrilles and Paez Shoes

I've seen my brothers and their friends wearing this somewhat "IT-shoe" of the moment. I was wondering then.. is this the new footwear craze the guys are into? Well, I got the answer straight from's a BIG YES!!! Hahaha!

Espadrilles are either flat or heeled sandals which have a canvas upper fabric and a sole either made of rubber or rope material. The rope thingy is called Jute rope sole which makes the espadrille an espadrille. I've read in wikipedia's description on espadrilles that traditonal espadrilles have a canvas upper with a toe and vamp cut in one piece and seamed to the rope sole at the sides. The term espadrilles was a French word, espanderya, which is a Mediterranean grass used in making rope. Espadrilles are super comfortable because the natural fibre moulds to the feet's countour. Espadrilles became super popular in the 1980's. I remember my dad and uncles before wearing one. Now, it's making its waves back once again at for the younger generation's shoe closet.

Manila boys, you can get your fix of Espadrilles at Sueno de Espadrilles. What's good about their store, is that women, men, and the kids can have their own espadrille with a wide selection of styles and colors to choose from and not just the traditional/classic one! I think the classic /slip on one retails for around Php 600

Classic style espadrilles at Sueno de Espadrilles

On the other hand, there's another shoe brand which is taking Manila by storm! Paez Shoes. Paez Philippines has brought this Argentinian brand into our country. Paez shoes are 100% handmade, made of soft Argentine canvass, cushioned leather insole, EVA rubber sole, and elastic panel for ultimate comfort and fit! Like the espadrilles, Paez shoes will also stretch and shape like your feet's countour which will make walking comfortable. They retail for around Php 1,800/pair. Sharing with you brother dear's Paez's :)

Paez Shoes in Solid Black

Paez Shoes in Jailbird Blue
Visit Sueno de Espadrilles at The Podium, 4th floor and Greenbelt 5 and Paez Shoes at Rustan's Department stores. You may also click their websites: and

I'm tempted to buy myself one! Hehehe! Too bad my feet's too small that I can't borrow my 2 brother's shoes ;-)

Yay or Nay: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Happy Monday Cybergirls! :)

Do you notice if your face looks dull or dry and lacking that glow? Well, maybe it's time for you to exfoliate those dead skin cells to reveal a new skin by de-clogging the top layer to pave way for a new and youthful skin. What the heck is exfoliation anyways?

Exfoliating is scrubbing your face either once a week or every 2 weeks to help blood circulation and remove dead skin cells. I do exfoliate and one brand I use is - St. Ives Apricot Scrub (which by the way I discovered years ago when dear mother gave my one to try hehe!)

St.Ives Apricot Scrub is made from Apricot extracts which is a powerful antioxidant which gently cleanses the skin.

  • Some people may not like the grany feeling of the scrub but I do!!! I love the sandy/grainy feeling when I massage my face with this. I feel that all impurities are getting washed out after.
  • Doesn't make my skin dry. After I use the product, I put my Aveeno night cream after and the next morning, I really feel my skin super soft and smooth
  • I did notice my pesky blackheads on my nose are gone! This I love the most coz it really works!! :)
  • The brand itself is a trusted brand. For those who are afraid of exfoliating their skin, well this product is worth a try since your face is in good hands hehe! May I also add I love the new look/packaging! :)
  • They aren't manufacturing the small/travel size anymore. I used to buy that often because I only exfoliate like once or twice a week. A small pea size amount is just right so the smallest size suits me just fine. I have no choice now but to buy the smallest size available which is 100g.
You can visit any Watsons or leading supermarkets to check out St.Ives Apricot Scrub. Very affordable and only Php 175.00. Definitely a YAY! I love it and I'm recommending it for everyone so all of us can get that must-have glow! :)

Inspired by Twilight: Lady Vampire Fashion

I watched Eclipse the other night with my hubby.  Well compared to New Moon, I liked it better.  As usual, I did not like Bella.  I think Jacob is funny.  And Edward kind of lost his mystery.  He became predictable.  But I like it anyway, I'm still a Twilight fan and I can't wait for Breaking Dawn...I'm so excited.  I don't wanna read the book yet because I want to see it in the movie first.

Anyway, after I watched the movie, I was sort of inspired to style the Cullen Girls and the bad asses Jane and Victoria. (I'll skip Bella, she doesn't inspire me).  I wondered, how will they look if Twilight goes Sex and the City.  Wonder no more!  With the help of  Looklet, I came up with the fashionable looks of these 5 fine vampire ladies and look what I did=)  Of course, black is theme color.

Fashion Guide: 10 Fashion Rules You Must Follow

For me, fashion and style are both arts.  Us—the wearers, are the artists.  Our body of course is the canvas.  I don’t know with you but for me, I believe that all of us has the right to express ourselves through fashion.  Which basically leads me to say that fashion should have no boundaries.  BUT, like everything around, fashion will not be in harmony if there is no rule.  We need rules to prevent chaos.  So I have come up 10 basic rules that I hope you will follow..

Affordable Designer Jeans Hollywood Celebs Wear: Divine Rights of Denim

Good morning girlfriends!! :) Hope the sunshine today put a lil bit of smile on your face :)

The other day I talked about the the basics you must know about jeans. Jeans for me is like water to our closet. It's a basic commodity and a need hehe! :) It's very versatile as you can go from day to night with it with just with the right accessories and shoes. Since hollywood celebs have the access to the fine things in life, they can even afford to have the premium jeans in the market today. There are a number of designer jeans right now and one of which is Divine Rights of Denim. Divine Rights of Denim have a celebrity following with the likes of Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba, and Audrina Patridge.

After some time, the guys in Divine Rights of Denim made Audrina Patridge their official endorser. Take a look at the Spring/Summer campaign she did with them:

What makes it unique and different from other designer brands is the price tag. A typical designer jeans ranges from $100-200. Freaking expensive for jeans right??! Well these designer jeans boasts of a special denim or wash or cut that you pay for, well of course the brand name. But Divine Rights of Denim can be of par with these pricey jeans with the fraction of a price! I saw Divine Rights of Denim on sale at $24!!!! How cheap is that??????!! Waaaaah! We don't have Divine Rights of Denim here in the Philippines. How sad. :-( But should the people in the management team or owners get to read this.. "is it possible if you can FedEx me and Shanna a pair??" Pretty Please??????! :-) Hehehehehe!! :-)
