You Have to Read This...

Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.
The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.
When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour.
Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to drop that towel.'
After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob, after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.
The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.
When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, 'Who was that?'
'It was Bob the next door neighbour,' she replies.
'Great,' the husband says, 'did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?'

Moral of the story

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2

A priest offered a Nun a lift.
She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.
The priest nearly had an accident.
After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.
The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'
The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.
The nun once again said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'
The priest apologized 'Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.'
Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.
On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, 'Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.'

Moral of the story

If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Lesson 3

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.
They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.'
'Me first! Me first!' says the admin clerk. 'I want to be in the Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'
Puff! She's gone.
'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. 'I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.'
Puff! He's gone.
'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, 'I want those two back in the office after lunch.'

Moral of the story

Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 4

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.
A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'
The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.'
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story

To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull.
'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'
'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients.'
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.
The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch..
Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.
He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story

Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.
While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.
As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.
The dung was actually thawing him out!
He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Kids Activities: The Kite Flyer

Do you know what else you can do on a summer weekend with your kid/s thats fun, exciting and inexpensive? Try kite flying!!! Look for an open space nearby, check if there's wind and then you are ready to go! Places like UP Sunken Garden or the Marikina Sports Complex are very ideal. In our case, we tried the vacant lot beside SM Mall of Asia. Just don't forget to bring a picnic blanket so you can have a spot to sit on when you are tired, some food and drinks and of course the kite!

Here are some of our pics...

Daddy trying to help Louie fly her kite.

Please fly dear kite...

Now, thats more like!

How about you? Have you tried kite flying? Where do you fly your kites?

Ghetto B is drooling: Longchamp x Jeremy Scott collection

While Shanna did help you out on how to save than splurge over her must-have bags, (well, I'll do my own version next time and you will clearly see we have are on the opposite sides of the style spectrum hehe!) I just want to vent out my longing for the *drumroll please*.....

Lonchamp bag by Jeremy Scott! (even if it's already soooo last season)

Lotsa girls right now are going gaga for their own Longchamp. With the variety of colors, you feel that you have to have every color! The most common are the Longchamp Le Pliage bags (those plain colored ones). You have to choice of getting a short handle or a long handle. The other version of these Le Pliage ones are the Longchamp Le Pliage Badges. It's the same plain one but with badges on it.

Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote

Longchamp Le Pliage Badge

Specs:

  • Material: Nylon with leather handles and a tab closure

  • Interior zip closure

  • Foldable

  • *For the Le Pliage badge bag, there are appliques/badges on the body

What I love the Le Pliage bags is that they are easy to clean if it gets wet or stained. You won't panic for your bag's like you do with your LV or Gucci. It's very roomy too and you can place all the stuff you have and still zip it. It's definitely your stylish everyday bag and is very low maintenance.

IMO, since lots of girls who are into Longchamp have plain ones, I want mine to stand out and be unique. And I spotted this Longchamp by Jeremy Scott collection, I was mesmerized (even if it's from seasons long ago! haha!) How I wish I had the cash and moolahs to spend and buy myself one!

Doing some research from wikipedia, I found out that Jeremy Scott is an American designer and worked for some of the famous celebs like Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake among others. On top of this, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel once said that Scott is the only person who can take over Chanel when he leaves! How kewl is that??!?! :)

So now seeing his collaboration with French company Longchamp, I just couldn't help but gasp at the collection that was. Check all these eye candies:

Longchamp bone print bag

Longchamp phone bag

Longchamp Flower Power

So there really really pretty, right??! Well should I buy my own Longchamp, I'm leaning on buying the Garance color (red) because I know a Jeremy Scott collection would be pricey. For now, I have to save, save and use the power of The Secret to make it come true :) And i'll go back to this post years from now to see that what I had imagined to come true really did come true! But if you have the moolah to buy now, go check out http://shop.nordstrom.com or go directly to http://wwww.longchamp.com

Must Haves: The 5 Bags That you Should Have

There seems to be tons of bags out in the market and every single day tons are born. It is very easy to get distracted, confused and worst case, hoard these bags away(thats what bag makers want anyway) They want us to spend, spend, spend for these bags! And because they are just gorgeous, we tend to purchase more and more.

But let me help you focus on just five bags that I think every girl should have.

1. The Basic Bag

Every girl needs an everyday bag where you can just stash you’re your stuffs in it. It’s a large carry-all bag that you take with you to office, to run errands or even for some lunch out but yet remains stylish. And because this bag is your best friend and you carry it with you most of the time, I recommend that you choose neutral colors like black, brown or even white so it will easily match whatever outfit you are wearing. One important factor in choosing your perfect everyday bag is to also make sure that it has multiple compartments to organize everything that you carry inside. In my case, I specifically need a compartment for my cellphones and my keys. I always lose them in the abyss of my bag.

Yay or Nay: Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner

That's me... looking like Sadako from the Japanese horror movie The Ring. But hey, this stolen pic of me got thumbs up because of my shiny hair! So some have asked this ghetto gurl on how to achieve the same for their own mane. :-) Well today's the day that I spill some beans.

I first read about Shiseido's Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner line from Manila Fashion Observer. She saw it in a Japanese grocery store Mitsuwa in New Jersey and saw good reviews from her and internet research about it. When I got the chance to visit the said grocery, I rushed to the shampoo section to see if it's there. Voila! It's on sale (but I forgot the price though hehe!)

According to Shiseido, the Tsubaki line is the best selling from the hair care line of Shiseido Japan. It contains the red camelia or in Japanese Tsubaki flower which is celebrated in Japan because of its oils easily absorbed by the skin and hair.

Here are the yay's I have for Tsubaki:
  • My hair is soft, shiny, and manageable. Since I have thick locks, this shampoo makes my hair feel lightweight
  • I love love the scent.
  • For the shampoo, a little on my palm goes a long way. Having thick and long hair, my consumption is lessened than usual.

And the nay's:

  • As far as I know, Nikki of Askmewhats told me there's a store in Robinsons Manila that sells Tsubaki but for a very very hefty price :(

Btw, before I forget, I bought 2 huge pump bottles of the shampoo and conditioner in Hong Kong last year which were on sale and really cheapo! (And I forgot the price again. Sorry!) What I do is I transfer contents to smaller bottles so I can easily bring to the shower or when I travel. So when my supply runs out, I don't think I can afford to go to HK and just buy Tsubaki hahaha! :) I'll be on the lookout by then for my next holy grail of shampoo and conditioner.

Ciao ghettos!

XOXO,

Ghetto B

Yay or Nay: Denman Small 5 Row Styling Brush

Happy weekend once again girls! It's the last weekend of May and June is just around the corner! How fast time flies!!!

I want to share with you my love for my favorite hair brush of all time... The Denman Small 5 Row Styling Brush.

Denman says that: "This handbag styling brush with 5 rows of nylon pins. The famous Denman anti-static rubber pad provides maximum grip and control during blow-drying
for shaping the hair. Perfect for 'on-the-go' styling
!"

I started using this Denman Brush back in 1997 when my good friend gave me this as a birthday gift. I had a white handle medium brush though before. This one got worn out already after years of having one. Then I bought a black handle brush after but it got lost! I tried to use other brushes because Denman is kind of pricey compared to other brushes. But I really feel the difference so I bought one asap to replace it and this brush is still with me up to this day :-) IMO, here are the yays and nays I have for the Denman brush:

  • Denman brushes are used by top salons and hairdressers. They really trust in this brand.
  • My hair doesn't get static with this brush unlike other brushes
  • Since I have the small one brush, I always bring it with me anywhere I go. It perfectly fits my bag.
  • It's really an investment! You really get what you pay for. My Denman brush has been with me for years already and is still working like a horse for me.
  • On the other hand, since it is an investment, it's kind of pricey compared to other brands. But for me, the price is worth it.

More yays than nays! :-)

I don't use my Denman brush after getting out of the shower. I use a large tooth comb to detangle my hair because using a brush on wet hair is a no-no! This will damage the hair. My detangling comb is not Denman though. Should I have extra moolah, I would like to have a Denman large tooth comb :-)

For all those interested to know more about Denman brushes, you can go to Rustans department store or Rustans Essences to see for yourself. I don't know exactly what are the prices right now but in the internet, a Denman small styling brush is around USD 9-10

That's all for now. Enjoy the weekend!

XOXO,

Ghetto B

Fashion Guide: How to Pick the Right Sunglasses

Hello sunshines!!!

It’s sunny in the Philippines most of the time so sunglasses are definitely an important fashion weapon here! Sunglasses are not only helpful in making you look great, most especially during those days when you just want to hide your eyes due to eye bags or dark under eye, but it also protects our eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays. But girls, remember that you can’t just pick any sunglasses. Just because you see people around you wearing sunglasses the size of China does not give you the excuse to do the same. Choose sunglasses that are sturdy and that match your face and personality.

It’s the peak of summer! I am sure you are all excited to get a new pair of sunglasses. There are tons of sunglasses at the mall with all shapes, sizes, colors. You can buy the cheap ones or the expensive ones. But wait, do you know which frames are suitable for your face shape?

Well, please give me the honor of helping you figure out your next sunglasses!

If you have the gift of a:

Round Face Shape

Full cheeks, rounded chin with few angles. Width and length are in same proportions.

Try:

Angular and geometric frames that sharpen facial features

Rectangular and horizontal styles make faces appear longer and thinner

Upswept frames that draw attention to top of face

Glasses with temples that connect at the top of the frame add length

Avoid:

Round frames that make your face look rounder

Large frames that shorten your face

Celebrities with Round Face Shape:

Cameron Diaz, Audrey Hepburn, Hayden Panettiere

Ghetto Gurls say:

For fun, you can choose colorful frames like navy blue, violet, pink or brown.

GG Picks:

Juicy Couture Starlet S Sunglasses in Violet Sparkle

Oval Face Shape

Mostly balanced proportions. chin is slightly narrower than forehead and cheekbones are high.

Try:

Most frame shapes work with oval faces

Frames that are too large for your features

Celebrities with Oval Face Shape:

Heart Face Shape

Broad forehead and wide cheek bones that narrow to a small chin.

Try:

Bottom-heavy frames that add width to lower face

Styles with low-set temples to draw attention downward

Narrow, round frames that soften the forehead.

Avoid:

Top-heavy styles that draw attention upward

Decorative temples that accentuate the broad upper face

Celebrities with Heart Face Shape:

Michelle Pfeiffer, Naomi Cambell, Eva Longoria

Ghetto Gurls Say:

You can also choose rimless frames.

GG Pick:

Baby Phat BP 2047 Sunglasses in Black

Square Face Shape

Angular face with a strong jaw line, broad forehead and square chin. Proportional length and width.

Try:

Oval and round frames

Glasses with temples that are center set or that connect at the top of the frame

Butterfly shaped glasses

Avoid:

Geometric and square shaped frames that accentuate angles of the face

Low-set temples or color accents on the bottom of the frames that draw emphasis to the chin

Celebrities with Square Face Shape:

Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock

Ghetto Gurls Say:

Be creative. You can choose from cat-eyed, round or oval styles. It will define your face to the max and will make a fashion statement!

Diamond Face Shape

Narrow at the eye line and the jaw line with a small forehead and chin. Angular features with dramatic cheekbones.

Try:

Avoid:

Narrow frames that draw attention to narrow eye line

Celebrities with Diamond Face Shape:

Linda Evangelista, Madonna, Elizabeth Hurley

GG Pick:

Bebe Tempest Sunglasses Black

Triangle Face Shape

Narrow forehead and eye line that widen at the cheeks and the chin.

Try:

Semi-rimless frames that accentuate the upper face

Top-heavy styles that balance the width of the jaw

Frame bottoms that angle inward

Avoid:

Low-set temples that widen the jaw

Narrow frames that are out of proportion

Celebrities with Triangle Face Shape:

Renee Zellweger, Victoria Beckham, Kathy Ireland

GG Pick:

Ray Ban RB 2132 Wayfarer Black/Crystal Green

In my case, I have an oval shaped face so this rectangular pair of sunnies are great in adding soft curves to my facial appearance. I should be careful in choosing my sunglasses though because I have a small nose. So i cant get a pair that will over power the might of my nosey nose. LOL I am pretty satisfied with these pairs and its been good to me all summer. Thanks to my hubby who gave it to me.

There you go! I hope I have been a great partner in helping you find your next pair of sunglasses.

How about you? Let me know what you picked! Good Luck.
